I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern Maine. I have worked extensively with children who have experienced complex trauma. When a traumatic event happens to a child, their brain can switch focus from emotional development to self preservation. Research affirms the positive impact of play therapy on brain development. My aim is not only to assist in healing trauma, but in rebuilding regulation skills, impulse control, and gaining self-awareness.
Throughout my career, I have learned the value of building relationships and forming sincere connections. I believe in providing a space for children that feels safe, validating, and motivating. It is important to understand how trauma and loss affects young children, and also to remember that hope is possible at any stage of life.
Outside of my career, I enjoy baking, writing, reading historical nonfiction, and being outside with my cockapoo, Beatrice.
