“We Do What We Know. When We Know Better, We Do Better.”
-Maya Angelou
We specialize in providing therapeutic intervention to parents and other caregivers for children (foster parents, adoptive parents, kinship providers) in the following areas:
- Parenting Support
- Childhood Trauma
- Victims of Crime
- Victims of Domestic Violence
- Victims of Sexual Assault
- Victims of other types of abuse
We seek to serve as many family members as possible in one location to reduce barriers to getting therapeutic needs met. When an event or events occur for one person in a family unit, it has a ripple effect throughout the family. Often, parents and children were exposed to the same traumatic events. We seek to help everyone who was victimized by these events heal and grow with the support of therapy.
Healthy families support healthy children. A parent/caregivers’s own mental health and ability to self-regulate greatly impacts the progress a child demonstrates in therapy.
We encourage the process of parents and children engaging in therapy concurrently to provide multiple levels of healing for the benefit of the entire family system. If individual therapy doesn’t appeal to you and/or you recognize the benefit of multiple therapeutic interventions, please consider family therapy as another option as well.
