Sarah Adams, LPC

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master's of Arts in International Disaster Psychology from the University of Denver. I have experience working with a variety of ages regarding challenges connected to trauma, depression, anxiety, and life transitions. I also have experience working with children who have been diagnosed with ASD, as well as working with developmental delays and enjoy using those tools in individual therapy. As an adoptee, I also have a high passion for working with kids and families who are managing the adoption process or processing through their own adoptions.

I am one of the co-facilitators for our Dungeons and Dragons/Hero Kids therapeutic groups. In these groups we utilize the table-top role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons, as well as the game Hero Kids, to support clients in a group setting with social interactions, perspective taking, and appropriate self-regulation. While Dungeons and Dragons is geared towards pre-teens/teenagers, Hero Kids is designed for kids 7-10. Please reach out with any questions, or to ask about group scheduling and availability.

I believe therapy is about creating an accepting, safe environment where individuals are able to learn about themselves and grow toward their goals. I believe in meeting clients where they are and enjoy working with clients to identify ways to pursue progress in a manageable way. I take a client-centered approach to working with clients while incorporating CBT, DBT, and other interventions to allow for trauma-informed, culturally-appropriate care. I often incorporate play therapy when working with children and have trained in Synergetic Play Therapy. Further, I have been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and have seen it be a fantastic tool for processing trauma and managing highly distressing thoughts.

In my free time I enjoy baking, reading, and spending time with friends and family. As a Colorado native, I am happy to be working with my community and celebrating successes with my clients.
